BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – The 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Infantry Division, hosted a Focused Border Development Conference and a Super Border Flag Meeting at Forward Operating Base Salerno, March 14 and 15.

Commanders of the Afghan border police, along with their Pakistan counterparts attended the conference to discuss the goals, training, recruiting, retention and operations of soldiers who will protect the border between the two countries.

The conference also covered a thorough evaluation of the previous year's efforts, and focused on the partnership and communication between the Afghanistan and Pakistan border security forces and the International security assistance forces.

"Over the years, as we have come to understand the value of implementing commander relationships with their counterparts, these meetings have become vital to the development and success of the continual border protection operations," said Army Col. Michael Howard, commander of the 4th Brigade (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, commander for Task Force Yukon.

The conference proved beneficial in the integration of the commanders from 4/25th BCT with their respective Afghan and Pakistan commanders, and established a solid outline for future operations and communications between the security forces.
