Service members assigned to the 20th Equipment Maintenance Squadron aerospace ground equipment flight and U.S. Army Central Command went head-to-head in an intramural basketball championship, March 14.

The five-on-five tournament helped Airmen and Soldiers increase their physical and social resiliency, while competing for a trophy and bragging rights.

Each team earned their spot in the championship by being the best in their divisions and beating all three teams in their brackets.

“We’re here to have some fun and play a great game of basketball,” said U.S. Army Sgt. Taylor Woods, Team ARCENT player. “It’s always fun to enhance morale and partake in some friendly competition.”

The game went down to the wire with overtime at 54 - 54. Each team took the necessary intermission time to practice the shots needed to bring home the trophy.
“We both played good games,” said Staff Sgt. Dhaimiah Williams, 20th EMS aerospace ground equipment team member. “We had the lead in the beginning, but they made minor adjustments at the end and made that three-pointer to win the game.”

The game concluded with a three-point shot by Team ARCENT to win the game 57-54 taking home the 2019 Intramural Basketball Championship trophy.
