PORT HUENEME, Calif. – Vice Admiral Tom Moore, commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, presented Kristie Simpson, financial management analyst, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD), with a Letter of Appreciation and a plaque signed by the entire Engineering Duty Officer School (EDO) staff to commemorate her 24 years of service with the school, March 14.

During her time at EDO School, Simpson has ushered more than 3,000 officers and civilians through 168 different offerings of the Basic Course, Senior Course, and other Acquisition Courses.

“I just wanted to personally congratulate you,” said Moore. “We have all been blessed with the opportunity to work with you.”

“Kristie has probably welcomed in every single person that has walked through these doors in the past 24 years,” said Moore. “It’s a real credit to her history, and exceptional service, to be working in one place for so long and to have accomplished so much.”

“This has truly been a wonderful place to work and I’m just overwhelmed by all the love and appreciation right now,” said Simpson. “I will miss all of you.”

Simpson transferred to PHD in December 2018 and many of the engineering duty officers she worked with at the EDO School also currently work at the command.

“I’m excited about the new opportunities here at PHD and look forward to supporting the command’s mission,” said Simpson. “I feel at home already.”
