Security forces protects the assets, Air Traffic Control protects the airspace, but who protects Air Force equipment?
Team Minot Airmen from the 5th Logistic Readiness Squadron Individual Protective Equipment shop ensure Airmen receive the gear they need for any situation.
“For any deployment related equipment we are the main people to go to,” said Senior Airman Cory Haller, 5th LRS IPE material manager.
Airmen in the shop have various duties such as organizing gear, maintaining equipment integrity, and issuing critical gear.
Haller said they equip Airmen with armor plates, gas masks, Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) equipment, cold weather gear and various weapons.
“We have to arm up and protect the equipment from our adversaries,” said Haller. “We may have one job but we do it very well.”
Without this essential equipment secured and protected, Airman’s lives could be at stake.
“We want to make sure we don’t give an Airman broken or unserviceable equipment,” said Haller. “At the end of the day, it could cost somebody their life.”
