Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright visited multiple units and hosted an all call at Beale, March 20-21, 2019.
During Wright’s tour around base he spoke to Airmen about ensuring resilience amongst the force by maintaining wellness.
“You have to take care of yourself,” said Wright. “I think it is important in a job like ours as Airmen when you are charged with taking care of a lot of people.”
Wright mentioned techniques he uses to stay resilient and stressed the importance of implementing things he views as self-care.
“Part of that is fitness, part of that is nutrition, and the spiritual domain,” said Wright. “All of those things I would consider self-care are important because you have to have your stuff together if you are going to be available to other people.”
While visiting, Wright also discussed how resilience is fostered by good leaders and the importance of engaging leadership.
“The impact commanders, chiefs, first sergeants and first line supervisors can have in the terms of resilience is more important than anything we can do at the Air Force level,” said Wright. “They can be engaging, tough, motivating, inspirational, motivational and all of those things we all look for in a leader and mentor.”
More than 800 Airmen, from the 9th Reconnaissance Wing and various tenant units, attended the all call, to ask questions and hear Wright’s message about resilience, the future of Air Force policies, innovation, and in the importance of leadership.
