REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. – In more than 50 countries around the world, about 114,000 professionals work around the clock to meet the Army readiness mission: engineers, scientists, welders, logisticians, mechanics and administrative professionals, to name a few.
Only one Army command can boast that it’s diverse array of professionals work interdependently to “ensure globally dominant land force capabilities” – that is the U.S. Army Materiel Command, primary provider of materiel for the United States Army.
The Army Materiel Command’s Top Employee of the Quarter program recognizes AMC employees worldwide who go above and beyond to make sacrifices, meet deadlines and exceed expectations. Moreover, they directly induce money-saving and perform lifesaving tasks for the Department of the Army, its warfighters and their families. So, every quarter, all major subordinate commands within AMC are prompted to recognize their premier employees across the world.
The AMC Top Employee of the Quarter Board serves as the platform where supervisors within the command can acknowledge “the best of the best” in their employee line-up. The awardees receive are recognized with their own parking space for the quarter, an honorary award signed by AMC Commanding General Gen. Gus Perna and a 4-Star note from Perna. They are also honored in a photo display at AMC headquarters that lists their achievements.
“Army Materiel Command’s ready and resilient workforce is at the core of the command’s support to the warfighter,” Perna said. “The personal commitment of AMC’s Soldiers and civilians, supported by our defense contractors, ensures our men and women in uniform receive the support they need and deserve.”
The following employees are recognized as recipients of the First Quarter, Fiscal Year 2019 AMC Top Employee of the Quarter award:
• Geetha V. Chary, Operations Research Analyst, Systems Analysis Activity, AMC Headquarters, for providing her exceptional structural engineering analysis and outstanding support to the Future Vertical Lift Reliability Analysis that provided Department of the Army with the key modeling results to contrast the various Future Vertical Lift alternatives.
• Todd M. Cheryl, Contract Specialist, Army Contracting Command for her innovative and resourceful efforts in executing a complex, sole source contract action, valued in excess of $470 million. Her actions were instrumental in averting a potential shutdown of the Operations, Maintenance and Defense of Army Communications located in Southwest and Central Asia Theater of Operations.
• Alan R. Middleton, Production Controller, Aviation and Missile Command for demonstrating a capacity to develop and maintain comprehensive processes that improved the efficiency of day-to-day operations. His experience directly contributed to the success of the Aerospace Standard 9110C Audit, yielding zero findings.
• Galen D. Pankratz, NORTHCOM Theater Desk Officer, Army Sustainment Command for being instrumental in the Command’s successful synchronization and emergency support of the Defense Support of Civil Authority events – Hurricanes Florence and Michael, Southern Border Support and the Alaskan Earthquake. He takes pride in the mission and his work never suffered despite his workload increasing significantly.
• Gonzalo E. Pareja, Information Technology Specialist, Communications-Electronics Command for his dedication, technical savvy and superlative ability to collaborate with the Army Test community and various stakeholders. Without his expertise, the Command Post Computing Environment System Under Test would not have been successful.
• Cameron L. Weller, Production Controller Leader, Joint Munitions Command for identifying and addressing multiple data accuracy and validity problems which set in motion a team to develop standardized reports across the enterprise. His commitment and expertise directly impacted increased efficiency, lower costs and most importantly improved productivity across the organization.
• Sean M. Cooley, Reset Manager, Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command for identifying an alternative solution for Husky Vehicle production at Letterkenny Army Depot which ensured a cost savings of $122,726.00 for the program. His efforts supported Letterkenny Army Depot’s established production schedule, allowing them to meet performance as promised.
• Kerri L. Momberger, Human Capital Specialist, Research Development and Engineering Command for securing over $7 million in Defense Acquisition Workforce Development Funds and an additional $200 thousand for a Talent Acquisition Software Program which allowed the Command to acquire additional acquisition talent and improve upon the skills and knowledge base of the current acquisition workforce.
• Capt. Glendon J. Sanders, Battle Captain, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command for developing multiple products for the G3B enhancing the organization’s ability to project combat power at the Speed of War. His attention to detail on over 100 synchronization meetings and 50 update briefs, ensured leadership had the most current and pertinent information to make critical, time sensitive decisions.
• Elizabeth M. Preston, Security Assistance Policy Specialist, Security Assistance Command for single-handedly leading the entire U.S. Army Materiel Command Security Assistance Enterprise Policy efforts due to an unforeseen vacancy on the Policy Team. She performed a masterful job leading the coordination and adjudication efforts on multiple, high-impact policy proposals from Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
