Camp Parks- 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support) Deputy Commanding General Brig. Gen. Robert Suter led the official party for the 2nd Medical Brigade change of command ceremony. This ceremony was the formal transfer of Col. Lesley Watts the outgoing commander to Col. Frank Faustus the new incoming commander.
This ceremony has deep roots, which represents the appreciation of the outgoing Commander and the trust and confidence in the incoming Commander. The guidon or also called the unit flag represents the entire unit. The Command Sergeant Major is responsible for maintenance and care of the guidon, so he passes it to the Brigade Commander. Which symbolizes the unit’s appreciation of the Commanders leadership. The Brigade Commander then passes it to the Division Commander, which represents them, relinquishing command and gratitude to lead soldiers. The Division Commander then passes the guidon to the incoming Commander, this symbolizes them entrusting with the responsibility and care of the unit. After this the new Commander passes it back to the Command Sergeant Major signifying their trust and confidence in the leaders and soldiers.
