CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan-- Marines conducted a perimeter cleanup outside of Camp Foster on April 19.
Marines with Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installation Pacific, Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler, participated in support of Earth Day by cleaning up the local area.
"We hosted this clean up because we want to show that we care about this island, we have a great host nation and this is our way to give back the community,” said Sgt. Maj. Lynette Marr-Gaye, with H&S Battalion.
Although this cleanup was held in support of Earth day, the Single Marine Program hosts clean-ups every weekend to preserve Okinawa's beauty.
"If you're not busy on Saturdays, I would highly recommend you go out and give an hour of your time to clean up our base," said Cpl. Sarah Stegall, a combat photographer with the battalion. “This is our way to show our appreciation for Okinawa.”
