CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan – Camp Foster hosted the Western Pacific Civilian Career Development Information Forum for Marine Corps Installations Pacific's civilian employees to recieve essential professional development information at Community Center April 25.
Attendees learned about civilian employee engagement initiatives, civilian workforce development policies and the latest technical training opportunities offered by Communities of Interest, also known as career field managers.
“Our goal is to reach employees you let them know programs and activities are available to them so they can take advantage of them,” said Ray Watkins, the associate director for workforce planning and development.
All the feedback provided by the attendees is taken back to Quantico, Virginia to discuss resolutions, according to Mylechia L. Smalls, the director of Civilian Human Resources.
“We are happy to be here for the civilian employees,” said Smalls. “We are looking forward to the feedback we receive. Our ultimate goal is for the civilian employees to leave here more informed about the opportunities that are available for them and who they can contact when they need help.”
