Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point’s Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point hosted a Holocaust Observance event in the Memorial Chapel April 25, 2019. Holocaust survivor Renée Fink appeared as a guest speaker to share her story of the tragedy that occurred more than 70 years ago and took approximately six million lives.
Fink went into hiding at the age of four and lived in an occupied and heavily bombed part of Holland during World War II. She has spoken to elementary school students, university students, and other adult groups. Fink stressed the resistance, goodness, and courage of people in those times and why those traits remain so important. She has been the keynote speaker at the North Carolina Council on the Holocaust’s annual commemoration and the Catawba Valley Interfaith Council.
