Members of the North Carolina Air National attend the Wingman Day brief in a C-17 Globemaster III hangar at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, May 4th, 2019, which encompassed guest speakers including Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the USO Outreach. The objective of Wingman Day is to bring Airmen together and promote positive well-being, camaraderie, and teamwork.

Vendors were also set-up to help promote Wingman Day including the U.S.O., Family Readiness, Sexual Assault Response Coordination, Veterans Affairs, and the Chaplain Corps., just to name a few. Each vendor had a table with information regarding support they offer the military as well as small tokens including items with their information printed on them such as stress balls, flashlights, and charging ports.

A multitude of guest and motivational speakers were in attendance to support and inform the Airmen including Jodie Anderson with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Michael Daggett regarding physical training, and Jeremy Boone, professional athletic director and coach motivator.

“If your presence doesn’t make an impact, then your absence won’t make a difference; you have to be present and make a connection,” said Boone while speaking to a large group of Airmen.

The following Airmen were integral in setting up the successfully combined Wingman and Family Day: 1st Lt. Paul Talbot, Senior Master Sgt. Bill Prather, Tech. Sgts Chris Earp and Trent Lowe, and Staff Sgt. Britney Orr. The Airmen were presented with coins from Col. Bryony Terrell, 145th Airlift Wing commander and Chief Master Sgt. Susan Dietz, 145th Airlift Wing command chief.

“Honestly, it was an honor to be a part of Wingman Day,” said Tech. Sgt. Lowe, “The concept of strengthening our guard family through joining two events makes perfect sense. I was very pleased with the way the events were put together and how they unfolded.”
