Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Alameeri, director of Military Medical Health Authority, Kuwait Land Forces, visited the U.S. Military Hospital – Kuwait (USMH-K) at Camp Arifjan May 5, 2019.
Hosted by Brig. Gen. Clint E. Walker, deputy commanding general of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, Alameeri was briefed by Col. Ellen Shannon-Ball, dual-hatted commander of the 452d Combat Support Hospital and USMH-K, followed by a facility tour.
The working relationship between U.S. and Kuwait Army medicine dates back to more than three years, but has grown substantially during the 452d’s tenure in Kuwait through a series of exercises featuring medical professionals, chemical-biological specialists, communications specialists, and aeromedical evacuation personnel from both nations.
The working relationship also provides for U.S. access to advanced medical diagnostics at the Kuwait Armed Forces Hospital – North, and specialty services at Kuwait civilian medical facilities.
“We need each other, especially in the medical field.” said Alameeri. “We want to emphasize our facilities combined tougher is good for both countries Soldiers.”
“Our two nations have a great relationship, and we want that to continue.” said Walker.
Along with representatives from U.S. Army Central, discussions included ways to build lasting relationships, mutual assistance in medical capability shortfalls, future joint training opportunities, and Kuwait’s desire to become medical leaders in the region.
