In honor of National Police Week, today we will focus on the accident and investigation division of the Cherry Point Police Department.
The accident and investigation division is one of many sections within the Cherry Point Police Department. They help uphold the mission to protect life, protect property, preserve order and enforce regulations in order to provide a safe and secure environment for military members, families and the civilian workforce that live and work at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina.
An accident investigator deals with continuous traffic incident investigations, traffic safety, and traffic support across the installation. Their duties range from investigating traffic accidents and creating detailed reports for the insurance companies to blocking off designated roads for special events occurring on the installation. They ensure everyone on base is able to get to where they need to go safely and investigate the cause of any vehicular mishaps.
The mission of the accident investigation section is to investigate traffic accidents both on and off base as directed by the Chief of Police and the Marine Corps Air Station commanding officer and in accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement.
