DES MOINES, Iowa- US ARMY Reserve COL Jeffrey Hafner, Commander of the Central Medical Area Readiness Support Group, entrusts COL Amy Ninneman, the new commander of the 7456th Medical Battalion based in Des Moines, with the battalion colors during a Change of Command Ceremony held on Sunday, June 2nd. Outgoing commander, COL James Kerby has served at the 7456th commander since June 10, 2017. The Change of Command ceremony symbolizes the continuation of leadership and unit identity despite the change in individual authority. It also represents the transfer of power from one individual to another. Passing the ceremonial flag from the old commander to the new commander physically represents this transfer.
