FORT BELVOIR, Va. – Dr. Ronald K. Hann, Director for Research and Development (RD) Chemical/Biological (CB) Joint Science and Technology Office for Chemical Biological Defense, Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), recently hosted author David Baldacci to speak at his department and share insights regarding creativity, innovation and overcoming obstacles, at the McNamara Complex at Fort Belvoir, Va., June 3.
“”A few years back Mr. Baldacci wrote a novel that featured the Defense Threat Reduction Agency,” said Carl Brown, CB Staff Director. “Today he has inspired our team, and used his dynamic skill for story-telling to share approaches to creativity and innovation that the CB team can apply in our service to the Nation,” Brown said.
Throughout his career, Baldacci has published 37 novels for adults, all of which have been national and international bestsellers, and several have been adapted for film and television. He has also published seven novels for younger readers. His novels are published in more than 45 languages in over 80 countries with 130 million worldwide sales.
While discussing creativity with the CB workforce, Baldacci addressed a question as to how to be creative in thinking outside the box when dealing with an unorthodox answer to a problem.
“People sometimes close their minds to all of the possibilities and think the answer has to be A or B or C,” said Baldacci. “In reality, maybe it’s not A, B, or C, but it’s Tanzania,” he said.
