    7th Army Training Command

GRAFENWOEHR, Germany—The Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) of 7th Army Training Command (7th ATC) conducts a change of command between Capt. Desmond J. Braziel, the outgoing commander, and Capt. Jaime J. Rodriguez, the incoming commander, at the 7th ATC headquarters building at Tower Barracks, Germany, June 12, 2019.

Col. William R. Glaser, the chief of staff of for 7th ATC, presided over the ceremony. Glaser looked fondly upon Braziel and appreciated the time he had serving with him.

“Bottom line, Des is one of my favorite officers that I’ve worked with,” said Glaser. “Just for the simple reason of his passion, his enthusiasm, his love for Soldiers, the mission, the command, and simply being a professional Army officer.”

Braziel, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and a graduate of Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, was the commander of HHC for 21 months and recently married his wife, Julia Lieberth.

In his speech at the ceremony, he expressed his love for her, his Soldiers, and highlighted his time as the HHC commander.

“Being in command, or just being a leader gives us the power to make a positive impact in people’s lives. That is what command or just being a good leader is about,” said Braziel.

Braziel is moving on to attend the Intermediate Level Education (ILE) course at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Rodriguez, a graduate from Texas A&M University in May 2011, commissioned into the Medical Service Corps and most recently served as the commander of Charlie Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment.

Rodriguez thanked his family, his friends, the entire 7th ATC team, and everyone participating in the ceremony to include a special thank you to Braziel.

“I know that your legacy will live on for many years to come,” said Rodriguez. “Best of luck to you in ILE and your future assignments.”
