CAIRO, Ill. (June 13, 2019) -- Service members from the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, active duty Air Force, and Navy Reserve helped kick off the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation Tri-State Innovative Readiness Training 2019 mission with the opening of a temporary healthcare clinic here today. The mission of the DAEOC Tri-State IRT is to provide medical troops and support personnel with hands-on readiness training through the provision of no-cost medical care to the surrounding communities.
Running from June 14 to June 22, the DAEOC Tri-State IRT will provide basic clinical care, sports physicals, small dental procedures, optometry care and diagnostics, and glasses prescriptions, said Air National Guard Capt. Lance Burgess, Cairo site Officer In Charge. The clinic will be open every day except Sunday, June 16.
“Most of the service members here are drill status guardsmen and reservists,” said Burgess. “They have their civilian jobs, and they have their military jobs and this is a nice transition to ensure their training is completed… We would be doing this often times in a simulation, but this is a much better experience for us.”
Providing no-cost medical care through the DAEOC Tri-State IRT is one way for the Air National Guard, Air Force, and Navy Reserves to utilize its training to serve its community, state and nation.
