Colonel Jerry Crigger took command of the 582nd Helicopter Group during a change of command ceremony June 28, 2019, on F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo.
Major Gen. Fred Stoss, 20th Air Force commander, served as the presiding officer, mentioning Crigger’s wealth of expertise and welcoming him and his family to the base.
“The term commander has seemed to stick with him,” said Stoss. “He was the commander of the 23rd Flying Training Squadron in Ft. Rucker, AL, then ROTC commander in Louisville. Finally he was the 12th Air Force Det 1 commander in Miami.”
Although Crigger previously came from Florida, he noted it was hot here too, but he is happy to be here.
“I’m going to keep it short because I think all our socks are full of sweat,” said Crigger. “To the men and women of the 582nd, from where things were when I first started, I am astounded by how far you have come, but this is not the end. We have more to work on and I look forward to being here with you.”
