BEMOWO PISKIE, Poland- U.S. Army National Guard Bureau Command Sgt. Maj. John F. Sampa, along with Command Chief Warrant Officer, Teresa A. Domeier, visited Battle Group Poland troops at the Bemowo Piskie Training Area, June 30.

The command team met with 3/278th Armored Cavalry Regiment troops from the Pennsylvania and Tennessee Army National Guard who are deployed in support of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence in northeast Poland.

During the visit, they spent the day interacting with individual troops and speaking to leaders on the importance of their roles in the Battle Group.

“Having the pleasure to meet with the Command Sergeant Major of the Army National Guard was very enlightening,” stated Sgt. Alvin Williams. “He said one thing that really opened my eyes to life in the military-‘35 years ago I would have never seen myself becoming a command sergeant major-what you do now is a great investment for what you plan to do with your future.’”

“His words were encouraging, and it motivates me to reach new goals in my career.”

Their interactions not only educated the troops on leadership but also inspired individuals to reach further in their career and set higher standards as leaders.

At the end of the visit, the command team recognized selected troops for their outstanding accomplishments while deployed and presented them with a coin.

“This was a really great experience, and I appreciate the opportunity to interact with truly elite leaders,” said Sgt. First Class Kristopher Caster. “I am excited now more than ever with my future in the military.”

Battle Group Poland is comprised of U.S., Croatian, Romanian, and U.K. Soldiers and works alongside the host nation’s 15th Mechanized Brigade as a deterrence force in northeast Poland.
