    U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan-Casey

CAMP CASEY, Republic of Korea – Lt. Col. Diosabelle (Jo) T. Buack assumed command of U.S. Army Garrison Casey during a July 2 ceremony at the Carey Fitness Center. She brings with her 18 years of experience leading Soldiers as an aviation officer, including assignments in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Buack accepted the garrison colors from Col. Monica P. Washington, Commander, U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan-Casey. Both commanders will work together at the combined USAG Yongsan-Casey, an organization which includes other Army installations including Camp Hovey, Camp Mobile, and the K-16 Air Base.

“The Yongsan-Casey Family is excited to welcome a dynamic, new leader to Camp Casey and to the beautiful nation of the Republic of Korea. Lieutenant Colonel Jo Buack, you are the right leader to build on the successes of what your predecessors have accomplished.”

One of those predecessors is Lt. Col. Brian A. Jacobs, the outgoing garrison commander. Washington had high praise for Jacobs and acknowledged his accomplishments during her speech.

“Your legacy here will not just be your successful support to the thousands of Soldiers who have served here….but the legacy of building future leaders in the United States Army and Department of Defense who you have inspired, motivated, and nurtured through your never-ending commitment to our military.”

Jacobs has led USAG Casey for nearly two years. His efforts were recognized when he received a Meritorious Service Medal at an awards ceremony shortly before the change of command. He emphasized the importance of the garrison working alongside the local community.

“No garrison can truly be successful without a genuine partnership with its surrounding community. Our fates are linked and I was so very fortunate to have a genuinely strong relationship and partnership with the City of Dongducheon and the many Good Neighbor organizations.”

Jacobs also thanked the garrison staff for making his time as garrison commander a success and praised them as he recognized the incoming commander.

“Lieutenant Colonel Buack you are the coach of this great team now. You are getting a team that is battle-tested and will prove, just as they did for me, that they are expertly qualified and up to any challenge in support of Eighth Army, Second Infantry Division, and this great community.”

Buack thanked Jacobs and pledged to maintain the same level of commitment to the community both on and off base.

“I am excited and ready to continue the work that [Jacobs] and the team have done. Thank you for putting your trust in me.”
