Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) celebrated its federal employees’ exceptional achievements in creating a more efficient and effective government at the annual Philadelphia Federal Executive Board Excellence (FEB) in Government Awards program, May 9.

NAVSUP WSS nominees competed against more than 780 nominated individuals from more than 27 government agencies in the Philadelphia area. Out of 69 medalists in 28 categories, NAVSUP WSS won four gold medals and one silver medal.

For the first time, NAVSUP WSS employees got the chance to celebrate their accomplishments in center city Philadelphia in the Social Security Administration Building alongside other nominees, leadership, and employees from Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support, the Office of Civilian Human Resources, Defense Contract Management Activity and other supporting agencies.

The FEB 2019 awards ceremony was unique because “it [Public Service Recognition Week] falls in the shadow of the longest government shutdown in American history,” said Jaime R. Williamson, 2nd Vice Chair of the Philadelphia FEB. “This ceremony pays homage to the unsung heroes of government—the career staff who are indispensable to the seamless and effective operation of government but may never see their name on a plaque, let alone a building.”

NAVSUP WSS’s gold medal winners include Stephen F. Brydzinski in the Outstanding Mentor/Coach category, Danny Winterbottom in the Special Accomplishment, the H-53/V-22 Performance Based Logistics Sustainment Team for Outstanding Professional Achievement, and the N21 Tooling Backlog Team for Outstanding Technical Support Accomplishment. Ryan Kirby, program analyst, was awarded a silver medal for Outstanding Technical Achievement.

As the Navy’s single Program Support Inventory Control Point (PSICP), NAVSUP WSS specializes in integrated logistics support planning, forecasting, requisition processing, provisioning, allowance development, configuration and repairables management and more.

NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support is one of eleven commands under Commander, NAVSUP. Headquartered in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and employing a diverse, worldwide workforce of more than 22,500 military and civilian personnel, NAVSUP's mission is to provide supplies, services, and quality-of-life support to the Navy and joint warfighter.
