    CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan – More than 13,000 Members of the U.S. and local communities packed Okinawa , Japan’s central-most camp for the 2019 Camp Foster Festival July 6-7.

    Jason Derulo and Kid Ink headlined the two-day festival which featured entertainment, local cuisine from Okinawa vendors, games and festival rides. The weekend’s events were capped off by a fireworks display in honor of the 4th of July weekend.

    “Foster Festival was amazing,” said Lance Cpl. Luis Abreufiallos, an aviation supply specialist with 1st Marine Air Wing. “To be able to interact with all of the locals and to socialize was a great time.”

    Camp Foster opened it’s gates to for the annual festival that brought the community together through food, fun, fellowship and entertainment.

    “Here we go,” said Col. Vincent J. Ciuccoli, Commanding Officer of Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps installations Pacific, Marine Corps Base-Camp Smedley D. Butler, as he stood on stage in the presence of the cheering festival-goers in his star-spangled attire. “ Happy 4th of July, Okinawa. Thank you for coming out and supporting Foster Festival.”

    Foster Fest and other open-gate events are crucial to strengthening the spirit of friendship between the local Okinawa culture and Marines on bases island-wide. Other events throughout the year including Hansen Festival, Schwab Festival and Futenma Fest encourage local community members to come together on Marine Corps Camp Butler’s various camps throughout Okinawa.

    The event was hosted by Marine Corps Community Services, a comprehensive set of programs that support and enhance the operational readiness, war fighting capabilities, and life quality of Marines, their families, retirees and civilians.
