Story by Petty Officer 2nd Class Kris Lindstrom

    Naval Medical Center - Portsmouth

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) conducted a mass casualty exercise July 9 to assess the medical center’s ability to mitigate a mass casualty incident. The major elements that were evaluated were command and control, triaging a large number of patients with varying injuries, and the ability to track all patients throughout the process. The end goal was to have a viable plan in the event of a mass casualty, whether natural or man-made, that requires NMCP to receive patients.
