    KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan forces, with a small element of coalition forces in support, detained a suspected Taliban commander in an operation in Kunar province May 2 to disrupt an improvised explosive device-network in eastern Afghanistan.

    In Marawara District, Kunar province, approximately five kilometers east of Asadabad, a combined force detained one individual suspected to be a Taliban commander in Marawara District, responsible for facilitating the movement of IEDs into the area.

    Forces did not fire any shots during the operation, protecting eight adults and six children.
