    480th ISR Wing

Commanders and senior enlisted leaders from across the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing gathered for the semi-annual Global Synchronization and Planning Meeting here, May 29-31.

With six geographically separated groups working together to complete ISR missions, this three-day meeting the group to share best practices, improve overall communication and continue shaping the future of the enterprise.

“Our Airmen have more time in service left than we do,” said Col. Max Pearson, 480th ISRW commander. “The future organization, structure and force presentation model represents a paradigm shift – a new way of thinking about the way we do business. If we are not thinking beyond the near term, we are not going to be sharing a vision of the Air Force with our Airmen that inspires them.”

With a “future faster” focus, group leaders met their newest senior enlisted leader.

“For a new command chief, I do not know if the timing could be better,” said Chief Master Sgt. Trey Walker, 480th ISRW command chief. “To sit down in the same building and around the table with all group commanders and chiefs is invaluable. Our wing is a puzzle; I am putting the pieces together and learning where they all fit. Global Sync allowed me to see the big picture, and I am learning about how dynamic and amazing this wing is with all the work our Airmen do throughout the enterprise.”

With each group making technological advances, Pearson wants his leadership team to prepare Airmen as the future 480th ISRW commanders and senior enlisted leaders.

“It is your tone, message and tenor that our Airmen gravitate toward,” said Pearson. “You shape their perspectives more than you think. I want you to be thinking of the Air Force in longer terms because that is where they are going to be living and leading.”

A sentiment shared by summit attendees was that leaders today are ready to see the next innovation their Airmen will make, which will advance the wing toward achieving its mission to ‘Discover the Unknown’.”

“I am excited to be on board and cannot wait to see our wing evolve,” said Walker. “As I get rolling here, I am looking forward to getting out to the groups and meeting Airmen working the communications, intel and support functions we have across the board. I want to see the amazing things they do, and be able to come back here to tell their stories so everybody knows the greatness of the 480th ISRW.”
