WIESBADEN, Germany -- (Update, July 31, 2019) Effective immediately, the Recycle Center hours will be Monday through Friday from noon to 3:30 p.m.

(Update, July 30, 2019) Based on feedback from the community, the U.S. Army Garrison Commander has decided to postpone the closure of the reuse portion of the Recycle Center on Clay Kaserne. During this PCS season, alternative courses of action will be assessed. Staffing for the reuse portion of the center is not resourced by the Army, so a closer look at alternative solutions is necessary. More information on the way ahead will be provided to the community via the garrison Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/usagwiesbaden/ and the homepage at home.army.mil/wiesbaden.

The reuse portion of the Recycle Center on Clay Kaserne will close beginning July 29. Items considered appropriate for reuse can be donated to the Thrift Shop located on Hainerberg or recycled.

"The Thrift Shop will benefit from collecting reusable items to generate funds that are returned to our community through grants and scholarships," said U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden Commander Col. Noah Cloud. "The closure of the reuse portion of the Recycle Center allows the garrison to use staff to enhance other services."

Community members are reminded that Army Community Service has a lending closet available with new and gently used items to borrow while waiting on household goods.

The Thrift Shop is always looking for volunteers. Interested volunteers can pick up an application at the shop on lower Hainerberg during its business hours. Summer hours at the thrift shop are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

Donations are accepted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on business days and can be dropped off at the back entrance to the shop.

The Recycle Center will not close and the hours will remain the same.
