Airmen from Royal Air Force Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath were invited to the annual Families and Friends Day at RAF Marham, England, July 25.
“This is an annual event we put on for our friends, families and members of the local community to acknowledge everyone associated with RAF Marham as a way to say thank you for your service in the last 12 months,” said Squadron Leader Karl Parmitt, RAF Marham base support wing reserve coordination officer.
On display at the event were a KC-135 Stratotanker from the 100th Air Refueling Wing, a CV-22 Osprey from the 352d Special Operations Wing and two F-15E Strike Eagles from the 48th Fighter Wing.
“This is a great day for all of us here to enjoy celebrating our hard work together and continue to build on the great relationship we have with our counterparts at RAF Marham,” said Col. Cassius Bentley, 100th ARW vice commander.
The event included a three-and-a-half hour flight display of RAF aircraft including historical aircraft, aerial acrobatic teams and RAF Marham’s F-35B Lighting II.
“We are coalition partners with a long history together serving side by side and are also neighbors in East Anglia,” said Parmitt. “We always help each other out when we need it and we are extremely grateful. This is just a small way of saying thank you to the U.S. Air Force by inviting as many Americans and their families to celebrate the event with us.”
