JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Senior Airman Elisa Keenan, 136th Logistics Readiness Squadron air transportation apprentice, is hard at work with her morning coffee in hand, training alongside active duty 732nd Air Mobility Squadron Airmen at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska (JBER), familiarizing herself with the processes required to be an effective career specialist. Her goal is to gain valuable experience to be more prepared for future deployments and upgrade training.
“This is my fourth annual tour, second with the 136th Airlift Wing,” said Airman Keenan, who served three years at the 129th Rescue Wing, Moffett Field, Calif., and the past two years with the 136 AW, Texas. “My favorite part of this [temporary duty] is how beautiful this place is, the base and surrounding areas in particular.”
Senior Airman Keenan is going above and beyond by accomplishing 7-level core tasks before she promotes to Staff Sergeant. She is preparing to deploy next year and is trying to accomplish her tasks early. In addition to training for her job, she is also studying for Airman Leadership School, in correspondence, to become eligible for that next promotion.
“Airman Keenan is responsible and dependable,” says Tech. Sgt. Deanne Prado, 136 LRS air transportation deployment specialist. “She sets a great example for new Airman joining the wing, she never says no to a task.”
Prado goes on to explain Keenan’s work ethics.
“She continues to perfect her skillset and looks for new ways to improve.” Keenan is also working to ensure she is ready for what comes next in her military career – her deployment.
It’s essential Citizen Airmen are ready when the nation calls, and Senior Airman Keenan looks forward to preparing for her deployment experience.
