    Devens, Massachusetts-Three dedicated and decorated Soldiers completed their call to service during a retirement ceremony held at the Malony Building on June 23.

    U.S. Army Reserve Element European Command Lt. Col. Kevin Hiney, Lt. Col. Alexander Tambascia, and Maj. Christian Way celebrated their retirement culminating in careers steeped in education and service to their country.

    The retirees served over 75 years combined and represented an Army culture embodied in selflessness, merit and accountability. The ceremony included remarks provided by the ceremony hosts Col. Daniel Cloyd, deputy commander, and Master. Sgt. Todd Pomelow, senior enlisted leader, and followed by the presentation of awards and the official Army song.

    Each retiree received a certificate of appreciation from the Commander-in-Chief, a certificate of appreciation from the Chief, Army Reserve, a certificate of retirement from the United States Army Chief of Staff and a United States flag. Additionally, each retiree’s spouse received a certificate of appreciation from the United States Army Chief of Staff.

    Lt. Col. Kevin Hiney retired after 25 years of service and served as the senior budget analyst for the unit during his time at U.S.ARE EUCOM.

    Lt. Col. Alexander Tambascia retired after 29 years of service and served as a cyber operations officer for the unit during his time at U.S. ARE EUCOM.

    Maj. Christian l. Way retired after 22 years of service and served as the operations action officer for the unit during his time at U.S. ARE EUCOM.

    These three Soldiers now represent a group of veterans who continue to serve their communities and country by making positive impacts and inspiring future generations.
