Homestead, FL – After four years serving as the 50th Regional Support Group’s (RSG) senior enlisted advisor, Command Sgt. Maj. Eugene “Gene” Meisenheimer bid farewell to friends and soldiers during a change of responsibility ceremony held at the RSG’s headquarters.
Meisenheimer, whose career spans almost 28 years, including 18 years in the Florida Army National Guard, one year in the Georgia Army National Guard and nine years on active duty, will transition to Joint Forces Headquarters until he retires at the end of the year.
Col. Richard Elam, 50th RSG commander, praised Meisenheimer for his dedication and leadership during his tenure as senior enlisted advisor. “This is a bittersweet moment,” Elam said. “For the last 39 months Command Sergeant Major Meisenheimer has helped me lead this formation, and during that time there has been no better advocate for the soldiers of the 50th Regional Support Group and the Florida Army National Guard.”
During the ceremony, Elam welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Sweat as the 50th RSG’s new senior enlisted advisor. “I look forward to serving you and serving with you,” Sweat said. “I know that we will be successful in any challenge that lays ahead of us.”
Sweat previously served as the Command Sgt. Maj. for the 53rd Infantry Brigade Support Battalion. He also serves as a full-time operations NCO for the operations section at Joint Forces Headquarters in St. Augustine.
