U.S. Army Reserve Lt. Col. Christopher Upchurch was promoted to the rank of Colonel on Friday, July 19. The son of Lanny Upchurch, of Vinings, Ga., and Kathleen Upchurch, of Alexandria, Va., he currently serves in the 354th Civil Affairs Brigade in White Plains, Md.
Upchurch is a 1995 graduate of Marist School in Dunwoody, Ga. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in 1999 and earned his master’s degree from George Mason University in 2008.
Upchurch works at the U.S. Department of State as a foreign affairs officer and resides in Virginia with his wife, Natalja.
