The 30th Medical Group officially stood up two new health care squadrons during an activation and re-designation ceremony Aug. 23, 2019, at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.
As an effort to ensure deployment readiness and diligent medical care, the reorganization of the squadrons is part of a larger Department of Defense plan, which transferred the administration and management of all military treatment facilities to the Defense Heath Agency.
“Vandenberg patients will now see providers who are specifically focused on what they need,” said Col. Raymond Clydesdale, 30th Medical Group commander. “The health and wellbeing of our Airmen is a top priority so that we can execute the mission and maintain readiness.”
Under the reorganization, all Active Duty military will be seen by providers in the 30th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron, which was re-designated from the 30th Medical Operations Squadron, while all dependents and retirees will be seen by providers in the newly activated 30th Health Care Operations Squadron following the deactivation of the 30th Medical Support Squadron. This change remains in-line with the internal shifts in structure at the 30th MDG that began back in June.
“Our job as military medical professionals is to take care of you and your family, and that will remain at the forefront of this reorganization,” said Clydesdale. “Rest assured that regardless of any structural changes, our level of care will not waver.”
