VILSECK, Germany – U.S. Army Pfc. Tyler McBride, known locally as “Cheese”, is a broadcaster with the American Forces Network Bavaria and the co-host of the Morning Scramble at Rose Barracks, Germany.
Originally from Kansas City, Mo., McBride brings the hype to the Morning Scramble, a four-hour radio show directed towards the service members stationed in the U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria footprint.
He earned his personality name “Cheese” for his corny “dad jokes” amongst his coworkers.
“I really want to be in a show with Sgt. [Justin] McClarran who is “J-Mac” so we can have a show named J-Mac and Cheese,” said McBride.
A radio show requires approximately three hours of preparation the day prior depending on content of the show and on-air guests.
“My biggest ambition in life is to work for ESPN and I think this job gives me the platform and to be able to [kind of] practice and hones my skills before I get there,” said McBride.
He believes the experience, time and training received from the U.S. Army are the stepping stones to direct him in his future path in the sports entertainment world.
McBride enjoys being a broadcaster and providing music to the Bavarian footprint. Additionally, he takes pride from providing information that is crucial to the community and also to better the quality of life for the junior enlisted and service members abroad.
‘Tune into the Eagle,” said McBride. “We serve America’s best!”
