    USS McFaul Arrives in Thessaloniki, Greece

    USS McFaul (DDG 74)

    THESSALONIKI, Greece – The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS McFaul (DDG-74) arrived in Thessaloniki, Greece, Aug. 30, 2019 for a scheduled port visit.

    During the port visit, the crew of the McFaul will have the opportunity to visit historic sites, explore local customs and culture, as well as, host a reception onboard McFaul for local officials.

    “The crew is very excited to visit Greece,” said Cmdr. Rusty Williamson, commanding officer of McFaul.” Visit like these enable the crew to see a very special country, meet and interact with the locals and take in the culture of Greece.”

    While in Greece, McFaul will host a reception and provide tours for local officials in order to maintain a strong partnership with Greece.

    “McFaul will host local officials and member of the U.S. Embassy for tours,” said Lt. Jeffery Bland, McFaul’s supply officer. “McFaul will also be conducting a sunset reception for the officials and the crew.”

    McFaul is currently supporting U.S. national security interests in Europe and the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations before departing to the Atlantic Ocean.

    U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests, security and stability in Europe and Africa.
