NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 3, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that Long Branch Campground at Center Hill Lake in Silver Point, Tenn., is closing Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019 for public safety due to a scheduled construction project within the campground.
Resource Manager Dave Funderburk said the work is part of the Center Hill Dam Site Restoration Project, where a culvert located underneath State Highway 141 and inside the campground is being removed and replaced starting Oct. 1, 2019.
“During this time, several electrical and sewer outages are required, and heavy equipment operations are set in the campground, prompting the campground’s closure two weeks early,” he said.
All camping reservations at Long Branch Campground starting after Sept. 29 are being cancelled with full refunds. Campers with reservation during the revised closing date (for example, Sept. 23 to Oct. 3) have the option of cancelling the entire reservation or modifying the existing stay.
Floating Mill and Ragland Bottom Campgrounds remain open during this time and campers can make reservations by calling 1-877-444-6777 or visiting www.recreation.gov. For any questions pertaining to the campground closure, please call the Center Hill Lake Resource Manager’s Office at 931-858-3125.
