ST. CROIX, Virgin Islands - Command and select personnel of the Joint Force Head Quarters and 104th Troop Command will conduct a hurricane preparation exercise from September 6-8, 2019, in preparation for anticipated hurricane relief support through November 2019.
The training focuses on integrated staff exercises between the JFHQ and the 104th TC to exercise standard operating procedures and to train on effective military decision making process procedures.
“I am excited,” said Capt. Pauline James, commander for the JFHQ and battle captain for the exercise. “I was the battle captain during Hurricane Dorian and that experience has prepared me for this exercise.”
Part of the exercise includes virtual and live deployments of small teams to conduct; points of distribution and medical evacuation operations while deploying immediate response teams at key locations on the islands. The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency and other government agencies are said to be in attendance. The exercise is scheduled to end, Sunday, Sep. 8, 2019 at noon.
The Virgin Islands National Guard is prepared to support local authorities, helping to facilitate a unified and rapid response. This exercise will demonstrate our response efforts and substantiate that we are a ready, reliable and responsive force trained to protect our families, our community and our Nation.
