CAMP MARKET, SOUTH KOREA – An Army & Air Force Exchange Service distribution center at Camp Market suffered extensive damage Saturday from Typhoon Lingling, but no disruptions to meals for Department of Defense Education Activity schools are anticipated.
A freezer dedicated to the DODEA school meal program and national restaurants including Burger King, Subway and Manchu Wok was damaged at the Exchange’s Korea Distribution Center on Saturday during the typhoon. The Exchange is rerouting product from the Pacific and the U.S. to Korea.
“Beyond short-term menu changes, the meal program is expected to run as usual,” said Col. Scott Maskery, the Exchange’s Pacific Region commander. “The team is all in to take care of Warfighters and families throughout South Korea.”
The Exchange serves 2.5 million meals annually to Warfighters’ children overseas, providing nutritious food that meets USDA guidelines.
