KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan and coalition forces conducted a raid in Ghazni province overnight, May 31, detaining one suspected Taliban militant who operates in eastern Afghanistan.
Afghan and coalition forces patrolled to Gelan District, Ghazni province, near the village of Spedar, to capture a militant who is known to be involved in logistical support for insurgent elements conducting attacks against forces in the east.
At the targeted compounds, Afghan forces called out for residents to follow the forces' instructions, resulting in all adults and children cooperating. The force located and detained one man believed to be the targeted militant.
During a search of the compound where the suspect was detained, Afghan and coalition forces found weapons and associated items, including blasting caps, chest racks, a shotgun and rocket-propelled grenade components. Forces removed all items to prevent their use against innocent citizens and security forces.
