LEMOORE, Calif. -- Commander, Navy Region Southwest (CNRSW) named the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Lemoore its 2019 Small Shore Command Community Service Program winner Sept. 25.

The command will now compete with other regional winners in the Navy Community Service Program competition.

“This honor is a true testament to our incredible group of Sailors and Marines who continually put service before self every single day,” said Cmdr. Ronnie Harper, CNATTU Lemoore commanding officer. “I have never been associated with a better group of people.”

CNRSW recognized CNATTU Lemoore for its work in improving the quality of life on the installation and the surrounding community while developing well-rounded and resilient Sailors and Marines.

“Our goal is to be the most respectful, transparent and professional organization possible, and it all starts with leadership and communication at every level of our command,” said Harper. “We take extreme pride in our command and our community. Lemoore is an incredible place to live, and we are all lucky to be a part of it.”

CNRSW also nominated CNATTU Lemoore for the USS Bainbridge Award for overall excellence in community service. To be eligible for the award, a command must have participated in at least three of the five community service flagship awards, which include Personal Excellence Partnership; Campaign Drug-Free; Health, Safety and Fitness; Environmental Stewardship; and Project Good Neighbor.

In 2019, CNATTU Lemoore staff and students volunteered at 135 events, encompassing 8,250 volunteer hours and awarded 19 personnel the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Volunteer events ranged from Special Olympics, Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, base-wide clean-ups, Adopt-A-Highway, Boy Scouts of America, and supporting events held by both the Hanford and Lemoore chambers of commerce.

CNATTU Lemoore trains Sailors and Marines with the necessary FA-18 knowledge, skills, and abilities to function at the highest technical standards in naval aviation maintenance. CNATTU Lemoore supplies the fleet with the highest quality trained aviation maintenance technicians so commands can perform their primary mission ashore, at sea and in combat.

CNATTU Lemoore is a training unit of the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) located at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. CNATT develops, delivers and supports aviation technical training at 27 sites located throughout the continental United States and Japan.
