CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq — Excitement builds within Motor pool 14C for the 590th Quartermaster Company, 398th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, as preparation for redeployment continues.
The 590th QM Company is serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom during a 15-month deployment, and over the last few months, has been preparing for the arrival of the 855th QM Company. This effort is exemplified by the coordination of numerous convoys and movement control teams in order to transport the incoming equipment. The 590th QM Company has also coordinated for the logistical support of heavy equipment operators in order to unload the equipment from the convoys and to even organize it throughout the limited space of the motor pool prior to the arrival of the 855th.
The 590th QM Company began to move out of the containerized housing units into "tent city" transient living quarters two weeks early in order to provide the incoming Soldiers of the 855th with a room the day of their arrival.
The Soldiers of the 590th QM Company have been ready to receive them with transportation and keys to their rooms to ensure they are in-processed into their new living accommodations as quickly as possible.
As more Soldiers of the 855th QM Company arrive here, the 590th is working hard on the integration of the unit into the area by setting up computer access, computer formatting, supply accounts, billeting and even guided tours throughout the extensive layout of the Victory Base Complex.
The 590th QM Company has prepared for the arrival of the 855th QM Company in every aspect to ensure the smooth transition of the unit into the current mission.
