The U.S. Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox command team – Maj. Gen. John Evans Jr. and Command Sgt. Maj. Mario Terenas – received their flu shots Oct. 10 in conjunction with the start of the post’s 2019 flu season immunization campaign, which is planned through November.
Campaign planners said they broke up the dates to serve several target groups and have assigned each their own vaccination times.
The first group includes active duty Soldiers and activated reservists on orders. They will be offered the flu vaccine at the Soldier Readiness Processing site in Building 2020, Rockenbach Hall, 159 Black Horse Regiment Road, Oct. 7-10, 6-8 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m., and Oct. 15-17, 3:30-6:30 p.m.
All TRICARE beneficiaries can receive flu shots at the main Exchange Oct. 19, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at the SRP site Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 3:30-6:30 p.m., and Nov. 4-7, 3:30-7:30 p.m.
All beneficiaries enrolled in Child and Youth Services, as well as their beneficiary family members and CYS staff, may receive flu vaccines at the Child Development Center Oct. 21 and 29, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All students enrolled in installation schools and their families may receive the flu shot at Fort Knox Middle High School Oct. 22, 2:30-4 p.m., Kingsolver Elementary School Oct. 24, 2:30-4 p.m., and VanVoorhis Elementary School Oct. 28, 2:30-4 p.m.
Retirees may receive their vaccines during this year’s Retiree Appreciation Day event at Saber & Quill Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
