CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait — U.S. Army Col. Ryan Worthan, Area Support Group - Kuwait commander, hosted members of the U.S. Army Civilian Human Resources Agency, Department of the Army civilians and their supervisors at the command headquarters building in September.
The three-day conference allowed the agency representatives to speak about human resource concepts that are seen in an overseas environment, said Maurice Glorioso, supervisory human recourse specialist, civilian personnel advisory center in Chievres, Belgium.
“Our mission is to provide enterprise-wide advisory and operational civilian human resources support for Army commands,” said Glorioso.
Glorioso was joined by fellow CPAC human resource specialists Kensley Minor and Leslie Duquenne, who discussed why coming to Kuwait to speak to employees and supervisors is so important.
“We normally deal with people through telephone and email,” said Duquenne. “It is nice to have the opportunity to meet in-person to be able to answer questions that they may have.
Duquenne explained that visiting Kuwait allows CHRA representatives to better understand the operational requirements that Kuwait has, allowing them to better assist in advising supervisors of civilian employees.
During the conference, the team showed employees about the functionality and key changes to human resources information systems that are used to create and process personnel actions for Army civilians.
One of these of these systems is the USA Staffing system, a vacancy announcement and applicant tracking system, said Minor.
“The systems that we use are how we fill job vacancies,” said Minor. “It is important for supervisors to know how these systems work so they can tell us if the process is working and how we can adjust the process to help them fill the vacancies faster.”
The U.S. Civilian Human Resource Agency is comprised of seven regions, with five located in the United States, and two overseas.
