Capt. Matthew Rick, Commanding Officer, Training Support Center Hampton Roads (TSC-HR) named Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Fuels) 1st Class Petty Officer Jahara Davis SSOY, at an all-hands call, Naval Air Station Oceana Dam Neck Annex, Oct. 24.
Davis is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Pate, Fayetteville, NC and she is married to Ryan Davis of Orangeburg, SC.
Davis has been in the U.S. Navy for over eight years. For the past two years, she has been the TSC-HR Assistant Command Fitness Coordinator (ACFL). As ACFL, Davis supervised a variety of physical readiness functions for 28 Learning Sites to ensure sustained superior support was provided to over 6,500 students annually resulting in a 98.5% pass rate.
“I love my job here at TSCHR because of the support I receive from leadership and my mentors, Chief Operations Specialist Orlando Hudson and Chief Logistics Specialist Michael Clark,” said Davis. “If you put into the universe what you expect in return, then your destiny will manifest true to self!”
Davis had the following advice to junior sailors who are trying to achieve their goals, “Think of your journey as a credit report... if you put your personal feelings aside and always do the right things, both, personally and professionally then adversity will never win. Planning your goals seems to be the most overrated to so many; however, it will help you meet milestones that will lead to the ultimate dream. Timing is key when planning because educational goals, family, and career demands can clash, but with proper planning one can be successful at all things.”
