SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii – Soldiers of the 25th Infantry Division stood tall as a sea of red and yellow taro leaf patches fill Weyand Field during a Change of Command Ceremony on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Nov. 5, 2019.
Maj. Gen. Ronald P. Clark, outgoing commanding general of the 25th Infantry Division and U.S. Army Hawaii, relinquished command to Maj. Gen. James B. Jarrard, during the ceremony hosted by Lt. Gen. Gary J. Volesky, commanding general, I Corps and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
“Ron took magnificent care of our Soldiers and Families as the senior commander for U.S. Army Hawaii”, said Volesky. “Ron’s ability to plan and oversee the execution of demanding brigade level training events, combined arms live fires, and the division’s own culminating training event, “Lightning Strike”, ensured that his units were ready.”
The outgoing “Lightning 6” welcomed Jarrard back to the 25th ID as they both served as company commanders within the division over 20 years ago.
“The soldiers you see on the field today are our credentials, they literally stand on the shoulders of giants who formed this division on October 1st, 1941, right here at Schofield Barracks,” said Clark. “It is my personal and professional honor to have served in your ranks.”
Jarrard made it clear; he is privileged to serve as the commander of “America’s Pacific Division.”
“I am truly humbled and honored to be selected to serve alongside these warriors, civilians, veterans and Family members of this great division and Hawaii community”, Jarrard said. “My family and I are blessed to be here.”
Jarrard most recently served as the Director of Operations, J3, U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida.
Clark will now be the Chief of Staff of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.
