Great Lakes, Ill. - Join the National Museum of the American Sailor on December 14, 2019 for a day of festive holiday activities! Become one of Santa's little helpers by assembling a care package for sailors far from home. Using supplies generously donated by the National Museum of the American Sailor Foundation and USO of Illinois, children can give back with this special holiday gift box. Children can also meet Santa Claus, craft an ornament to take home, decorate a tasty cookie, and explore a holiday-themed scavenger hunt throughout the museum's galleries.
Santa Claus and the Navy Sailor Care Package Station will be at the museum from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Crafts and the scavenger hunt are available from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This event is free of charge and does not require advance registration.
The Museum's mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the United States Navy's Enlisted Sailor for the benefit of the U.S. Navy and the people of the United States. The museum is located at 2531 Sheridan Road and is adjacent to Gate 1 at Naval Station Great Lakes. Please call (847) 688-3154 or email nmas.fct@navy.mil for more information.
