Joint Force Headquarters - Pennsylvania National Guard

    FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. —
The National Guard Bureau has awarded the Headquarters of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard (HQ PAANG) the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award (AFOEA) for performance in 2017 and 2018. Pennsylvania’s headquarters is one of only five units to be selected across the United States for the designation.

“The members of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard headquarters staff have made truly significant contributions to enhance both Department of Defense and U.S. Air Force operations, as well as serving their local communities,” said Brig. Gen. Michael Regan, Pa. Air National Guard commander. “I’ve always maintained that our HQ team does a great job in supporting the outstanding airmen that work in our units across the state. This award formally recognizes their on-going contributions and is a testament to the high quality of service that they provide.”

During the period of the award, the HQ PAANG supported 16 severe weather emergencies in Pennsylvania, including the transport of a two-year-old child for emergency surgery during a blizzard. The unit also played a role in relief efforts in Puerto Rico and Texas following Hurricanes Maria and Harvey. Headquarters personnel coordinated over 1,700 visits to schools and community events, as well as numerous overseas deployments and military exercises.

The Ft. Indiantown Gap based agency last earned the AFOEA in 2010, and is tasked with monitoring the organization, training and equipping of the state’s three Wings, comprised of over 4,000 airmen at six separate bases, to ensure federal and state missions are executed efficiently and successfully.
