The Columbia VA Health Care System and the Women Veterans Art Project (WVAP) are partnering to educate the community about the service of Women Veterans through art during Veterans month in November.
The Women Veterans Art Project is an organization honoring women Veterans by sponsoring exhibitions of women Veterans’ artwork. WVAP has staged exhibitions in the Pentagon in Washington, DC, during Fleet Week in Philadelphia, PA, and at colleges, libraries and community centers across the country.
During Veterans month in November, the Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center and WVAP will stage a display by artists in the main lobby, located in building 100, of the medical center.
“It is our hope that this art exhibit will bring many women Veterans, including those who have yet to enroll for VA care, through our medical center,” said Rose Hutson, Women Veterans Program Manager for the Columbia VAHCS. “We look forward to the opportunity to introduce them and their families to our many health services and to our dedicated women’s health team, too.”
The Women Veterans Art Exhibit will be on display through November 26. The public is invited to stop by to view the exhibit.
For more information about women Veteran’s health care or the art exhibit, please contact the Women Veteran Program Manager, Rose Hutson, by calling 803.776-4000, ext. 4765.
