Air chiefs and leadership from across the Indo-Pacific will gather for the 2019 Pacific Air Chiefs Symposium at Pacific Air Forces Headquarters here Dec. 3 to 6, jointly hosted by Gen. David Goldfein, U.S. Air Force chief of staff, and Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., PACAF commander.

The anticipated official gathering of representatives from 18 nations will mark one of the most widely attended symposiums to date.

“The Indo- Pacific region remains the most consequential region in the world, further validating the importance of events like these,” Goldfein said. “Together, alongside our growing network of allies and partners, we will fulfill on our vision of a free and open Pacific that benefits all.”

This year’s theme, “A collaborative approach to regional security,” focuses on ensuring a mutual understanding of common issues and challenges, and enhancing capabilities, capacity and interoperability.

“This symposium is based on the belief that collaboration is required to meet the global challenges,” Brown said. “From cooperation to conflict, we are stronger together. Uniting over shared values, interests, and security, we will stand together to preserve peace and stability in the region.”

The event will consist of a number of presentations and panel discussions covering topics ranging from domain awareness, multidomain operations, interoperability, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

This year marks the 11th iteration of this event. The first Pacific Air Chiefs Conference was hosted in 1989, with six countries attending – Australia, Brunei, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. Additional iterations took place every other year from 1992 to 1996, in 2006, then again every other year from 2009 to 2017. In 2014, the name was officially changed to “Pacific Air Chiefs Symposium,” or PACS.

Stay tuned to PACAF platforms for continued coverage of the symposium at www.pacaf.af.mil and https://www.dvidshub.net/. For more information, contact PACAF/PA at 808-448-3221/3225 or via e-mail at pacaf.paops@us.af.mil.
