KABUL, Afghanistan — An International Security Assistance Force service member was killed as a result of an improvised explosive device strike by insurgents in southern Afghanistan yesterday.
"With sadness, on behalf of ISAF I offer our condolences to this service member's family and friends," said Brig. Gen. Richard Blanchette, ISAF spokesperson. "The absolute commitment of this service member shines like a beacon to guide us as we pursue peace for the people of Afghanistan."
It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
