The 188th Wing promoted the Staff Judge Advocate to Colonel on Dec. 9, 2019.
Col. Jenny L. Johnson has served in the 188th Judge Advocate General’s office since 2008. She provides legal advice to the wing commander and oversees the provision of legal services to more than 800 Arkansas Air National Guard full-time and traditional personnel.
“It is a privilege to serve with her,” said 188th Wing Commander, Col. Leon J. Dodroe. “A true professional, I appreciate her advice on a wide range of administrative law. Getting her promoted to colonel was the one of the first things I wanted to accomplish in my command.”
Johnson, a graduate of Henderson State University and the University Of Arkansas Little Rock School of Law, received a direct commission and entered active duty Air Force in March of 2001. At her first assignment at Peterson Air Force Base, she was the chief legal assistant prosecuting criminal and medical cases before moving to the Air Defense Counsel at the United States Air Force Academy.
“I’ve had great leaders in both the legal office and in Wing leadership, in active duty and the guard. They have encouraged me to take the opportunities that were presented and given me shoves forward when I needed it,” said Col. Johnson.
She has served as a Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, Staff Judge Advocate, a Medical Law Consultant, and Area Defense Counsel. She is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Arkansas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
Johnson offered kind words and thanked her family, friends, and colleagues in attendance.
“As the granddaughter of a sailor, the sister of soldiers, and the mom of a Marine who just came back from Afghanistan, so I am very proud of my family’s history and I am very proud to continue it.”
